Although a day may sound like a short time on the island, you can still fill it up with stacks of attractions and activities that are on offer.

Float down the Eli Creek

Sit back and relax as the river does all the work! This small creek has quite a strong current, slowly pushing you down the river’s weaving path, which eventually flows into the ocean. A lot of tourist bring floaties for this attraction, but you can simply use your body and lie back on the surface if you come unprepared. Watch the boarding trees and bushes past you by as you whiz past, with the sun gleaming down on as you go!

See the Rusting Maheno Shipwreck at Sunset

In the 1930s a strong cyclone ended up destroying the passing SS Maheno ship. Pushing it to Fraser Island’s shore where it would remain to this day. Now named the Maheno Shipwreck, the ship has slowly decomposed from the continuous sea water and rain crashing against it, leaving a rusting skelton ship. The rusting red contrasts beautifully with the golden sand and sapphire waters of Fraser Island, and is even better during sunset when the light enhances the rust to a golden orange.

Speed down the 75 Mile Beach

Sunbaking on a beach is so basic, so why not speed down it instead? The 75-mile beach is (yep you guessed it) 75 miles long and is more like a freeway than a beach. Letting tourists drive down the sand at impressive speeds, spraying water as you weave in and out of the ocean!

Have your troubles melt away in Lake Mckenzie

 
Lake McKenzie is renowned for being a perched lake, free of marine life and therefore free of any waste whatsoever. This makes it completely clear and pure, made out of clean rainwater. It is spellbindingly beautiful, and a perfect place for your next Instagram shot! 

Have a Beach Day at the Champagne Pools

Enjoy a beach day without currents or wild waves! Large Rock pools large enough to fit a group of people, these champagne pools are the perfect place for a relaxing ocean adventure without even having to leave the shore. Due to the large rock’s walls protecting them from the rough sea, even children can enjoy the deeper pools without having to worry.

Nestled at the north end of 75 Mile Beach, Indian Head is at the very tip of the clifftop. Take the 20-minute scenic walk along the beach and bushland until you reach the point. Once there you will be meet with 360-degree views of Fraser Island and the surrounding ocean. If its migration season for whales, you can even try spot them from this point, while seeing the occasional dolphin throughout the year.
