Planning your next adventure abroad? Is Rome in your sights? Before packing your bags and heading off into the unknown, follow my tips and tricks that can guarantee your trip will be an easy breezy holiday.

Basic Italian Phrases

Regardless of whether you’re only heading to Rome for a day or a month, learning some basic Italian while visiting is crucial. While Italy may be filled with many English speakers, learning some simple words can help you form better bonds and impress the locals. Common greetings, polite phrases such as Please and thank you, and basic questions such as ‘Where are’ and ‘Could you help me’ can help you slid smoothly into the daily happenings of Rome.

Beware of the Risks

Rome is one of the most visited cities in the entire world, with the surplus of tourists overcrowding the tourist attraction no matter what season. The herds of exposed travellers attract a lot of shady characters, with con artists and pickpockets hanging about in the busiest sections of the city. Be careful of your belongings, especially in crowds, as pickpockets have a special talent at snatching something in seconds. Con artists can pull several shades within Rome, from restaurants confusing you with their prices, citizens asking you to sign a petition that has a secret engender, or even some who offer travellers a rose only to demand money for it once you accept. As long as you are vigilant, Rome’s risks can quite easy to avoid, and doesn’t damper on the marvels the city.

When to Travel to Rome

Rome is a picturesque wonder throughout the year, but travel in the supreme travel time can give you even better holiday memories. Skipping the country in July and August is undoubtedly a good move, as extreme heat and humidity are guaranteed. As well as June, July, and August seeing the heaviest tourist traffic, which means long lines in the scorching heat. September, November, as well as April to May, are the best times to travel, with smaller crowds and endless sunny days which aren’t overpowering while you stroll the streets.
